Peak Inside The Colonnades Courtyard of Marrakech Hotel El Fenn

I was looking for a courtyard that would remind me of my childhood Moroccan house courtyard when I found this sensationally lovely colonnades courtyard at El Fenn, one of Marrakech’s most sought-after Hotel Riads. The design of this courtyard just stole my heart and reminded me of what courtyards should really be about. An enchanted space inside the house to have a drink, and unwind.

Art and culture are key components in El Fenn. The co-owner, Vanessa Branson – an English entrepreneur, and founder of art non-profit the Marrakech Biennale – brought pieces from her own private art collection to hang in this hotel. The gold low-profile day bed and rattan chairs are wisely niched under two lantern-decorated orange trees. The colorful artisanal kilim pillows add contrast and depth to the sofa and draw attention to the beautiful Tadelakt wall, also decorated with a constellation of Moroccan lanterns. Everything in this set is simple yet of charming beauty and can be easily reproduced in our own spaces. At night, the tree-hanged rattan lanterns and iron forged wall lanterns create an enchanting ambiance reminding us of Japanese Toro Nagashi and The Thousand and One Nights.
