The Beautiful La Sultana Hotel in Marrakech

Wonderful hotels abound across the globe, but some are particularly special. One is a magical small, 5-star hotel in Marrakech. La Sultana, a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, has been deemed an architectural gem.

The Kasbah district in Medina is well known by locals and tourists alike. So how great would it would be to stay there, in the heart of the city and at the foot of the Saadian Tombs? Well, La Sultana Hotel in Marrakech not only offers luxury and a dreamy stay, but it is also close to Jemaa El Fna square and the Bahia Palace, both famed worldwide.

Even one night promises moments of calm, luxury, and voluptuousness. But if you can, I highly recommend you stay at least two or three nights to completely soak up the beauty of La Sultana, and to have enough time to explore the historic center of Marrakech and discover the sublime wonders that make the historic city so sublime.

La Sultana Hotel Layout

La Sultana has an exceptional cachet as the epitome of authentic Moroccan culture. Five riads comprise the hotel’s space, each with a distinctive atmosphere. It is all about glorying in the past. You will have your choice of 28 rooms and suites, each with its own splendid décor like no other. It is a gift if not a privilege to book a room. Note that each one has a name!

All rooms provide the weary traveler with full amenities. In Marrakech, this means a delicate selection of Moroccan pastries, a bottle of water, and a large basket of fresh fruit not to mention the ubiquitous minibar. The private bathroom is laden with slippers, a bathrobe for each guest, a hair dryer, and Clarins toiletries. Everything is top-tier and meant to please.

The Swimming Pool and Restaurant

One look at the glorious pool and you will want to take a dip. It is warm and inviting with the many traditional brick vaults. Grab a cushion, order a drink, and recline. Just ask about it in the lobby, but it is a mere step away. The restaurant is adjacent  – in fact, it overlooks the pool – should you find yourself hungry after a nice swim in the ionized water. By the way, the countercurrent is a special perk.

The Le Patio restaurant is known for its tasty cuisine. Only fresh produce and vegetables from the market are used. It serves lunch and dinner on-site or by the pool according to the guest’s whims. You can even go to the rooftop of the hotel and enjoy the panoramic view. Stay in the riad if you wish. The choice is yours.

You don’t have to be a hotel guest to dine at Le Patio. Everyone is invited to share their culinary wealth. They also have free use of the pool, bar, lounges, billiard table, and library. La Sultana is a treasure trove of relaxing experiences for everyone.

The Spa

La Sultana Spa is a sight to see with its pretty pool and pink marble vaults. It offers delightful treatments all dedicated to affording relaxation of the body; to name a few: Hammam, jacuzzi, sauna, beauty and hairdressing salons, and massage cabins. Every guest will find something of interest. After all, you are on vacation so why not indulge? Look for the staircase found in each riad, or take the elevator to reach the spa.

The Roof Terrace

The roof terrace is a vast 1200 m² with the vibe of a hanging garden rich with exotic plants. The view overlooking the Saadian Tombs is panoramic. Meanwhile, you bask in the luxury of a set of pergolas and a variety of tents. Cool off from a swim or just stroll and enjoy. You will stay hydrated amid the misters and tropical rains. They are installed in all four corners of the rooftop.

Stop at La Pergola, a bar, and sip a fresh cocktail. Avail yourself of the gym or the inviting armchairs and deckchairs all around as the mood strikes you. The sun is always shining to kiss your body with its warmth. Breakfast on the roof terrace is very special. You can choose from the many bowls of cereal, vegetables, cold cuts, eggs and detox juices, etc. It is a vast array that will please any palate.

A tip: at 10:30 a.m. each day, La Sultana offers open-air cooking classes led by the hotel’s restaurant team.
